Μία διαδρομή εκατό χρόνων με εναλλαγές ανάπτυξης και κρίσης.
Το παράδειγμα της γεωργίας
«Η έκθεση θα παραμείνει ανοιχτή έως τις 22 Δεκεμβρίου 2021 και το ωράριο λειτουργίας της είναι καθημερινά από τις 10:00 έως τις 15:00, τις Τετάρτες 16:00-19:30 και το Σάββατο 18 Δεκεμβρίου 11:00-16:00».
Η παρούσα αφήγηση εξιστορεί τη διαδρομή των τελευταίων 100 ετών που σημαδεύτηκαν από εναλλαγές περιόδων κρίσεων και οικονομικής και κοινωνικής ευημερίας, με κοινή αφετηρία τον πόλεμο, τη μετανάστευση πληθυσμών, την πείνα και τη φτώχια. Πρώτος σταθμός του αφηγήματος η Μικρασιατική Καταστροφή το 1922, οι εξελίξεις που πυροδότησε στο κοινωνικο-οικονομικό και πολιτικό γίγνεσθαι της χώρας και η ανάδειξη του κομβικού ρόλου των γεωπόνων στην ανασυγκρότηση της οικονομίας της χώρας. Σχεδόν εκατό χρόνια μετά, η χώρα μας έρχεται αντιμέτωπη με μια πρωτόγνωρη οικονομική κρίση που συντάραξε και εκθεμελίωσε παγιωμένες καταστάσεις σε όλα τα επίπεδα, καθώς και πολύ πρόσφατα, με μία υγειονομική κρίση, η οποία έθεσε ερωτηματικά για το ρόλο των συστημάτων τροφίμων και της επισιτιστικής επάρκειας ( της διατροφής σε αυτή). Η ίδρυση του Γεωπονικού Πανεπιστημίου και η εξέλιξή του μέσα σ' αυτή την διαδρομή, επηρεάζει και επηρεάζεται απ' όλα τα σημαντικά γεγονότα αυτής της περιόδου. Βρίσκεται στην καρδιά των εξελίξεων και των μετασχηματισμών που άλλαξαν τη χώρα.
Οι πιο σημαντικοί σταθμοί της διαδρομής φιλοξενούν ένθετα ψηφιακά μέσα για την προβολή σημαντικού αρχειακού υλικού (φωτογραφιών, ντοκιμαντέρ και σπάνιων εγγράφων), ενώ οι γραφιστικές συνθέσεις, παρέχουν πλούσια ιστορική πληροφόρηση σε κάθε σταθμό του εκθεσιακού μας αφηγήματος. Παράλληλα, εργαστηριακός εξοπλισμός της πρώτης περιόδου λειτουργίας της Σχολής αλλά και μεταγενέστερος που αποκτήθηκε με τη βοήθεια του Σχεδίου Μάρσαλ, αφηγείται την ιστορία της γεωπονικής εκπαίδευσης και έρευνας, ενώ το εκθεσιακό αφήγημα συμπληρώνουν δύο καταληκτικές ενότητες, με την εικαστική τέχνη και την τέχνη της συγγραφής να υφαίνουν τον ιδεολογικό απόηχο των πτυχών της σύγχρονης οικονομικής και κοινωνικής κρίσης. Η καταγραφή, η αποκωδικοποίηση, η ερμηνεία φαίνεται να είναι προσωπική υπόθεση και στοχεύει στο συναίσθημα του επισκέπτη, αλλά κυρίως στις μνήμες που αναδύονται για τις κρίσιμες στιγμές στην ιστορία που βιώσαμε άμεσα ή έμμεσα και οι οποίες πυροδότησαν «μεταμορφώσεις», που μας καθόρισαν.

This exhibition narrates the historical journey of Greece during the last 100 years. This journey is marked by alternating periods of crisis and economic and social prosperity, with a common thread running through them: war, population migration, hunger and poverty. The chronicle begins with the Asia Minor Catastrophe in 1922, which triggered political and socio-economic changes in Greece and highlighted the emerging key role of agronomists in the reconstruction of the country's economy. Today, almost one hundred years later, Greece has been facing an unprecedented economic crisis that has shaken the very foundations of our established systems at all levels and recently the health crisis that also has raised questions regarding food security at the global level. The founding of the Agricultural University of Athens in 1920 and its institutional development over the course of this period has influenced and has been influenced by all the significant political and socio-economic events that marked this one-hundred-year journey. Undoubtedly, the history of our academic institution lies at the heart of the developments and transformations that have changed the course of the country.
The exhibition hosts rare digital material of great historical importance, such as photographs, documentaries and archives, and detailed information graphics that highlight each and every section of the chronicle: the Interwar period, the World War II period, the Marshall Plan, the period right after the dictatorship of 1968 etc. Selected items from the numerous collections of scientific instruments and equipment of the Agricultural Museum, including the equipment acquired with the help of the Marshall Plan, further enhance the narrative of the exhibition. These also reflect the evolution of education and of scientific research at the Agricultural University of Athens and showcase the technological progress of the equipment employed in agricultural sciences. The exhibition also highlights the collection of paintings and plaster models that Emmanuel Vathis, an exceptional academic teacher and artist, used in his teaching approach from the late 30s onwards, thus honoring the early history of the academic education at the University. In the two concluding sections, visual arts and the art of writing from the late 2010s depict the multifaceted ideological aftermath of the modern socio-economic crisis. Processes intrinsic to the creative arts, such as the recording, decoding or interpretation of a work of art, seem to be a private affair; their aim is to trigger an emotional response and most poignantly the memories of visitors, their direct or indirect experience of critical moments in history, those transformative, defining moments for each and every one of us.
